


My Reflection :It was the first time using Maya software in school lab. When I first open the software, I was confused with the icons placed all over, at every corner. I was a little scared to start but at the same time, I find it exciting. I was given a chance to try to create a basic polygon that was used in the picture above. And hoping for more to come ! Below are some information on how to use Maya so that I could refer anytime I want.
Maya
File > Open scene (option box - tick Execute script nodes and Ignore Version)
There are 2 versions of saving :
mb - maya binary (always save in this version)
ma - maya ascii
Commands :
4 - Wireframe
5 - Hardware Shading (grey)
6 - Texture/Color Shading
PC "Alt" /Mac "command" + LMB = Tumble
PC "Alt" /Mac "command" + MMB = Pan
PC "Alt" /Mac "command" + RMB = Tracking
ctrl + d = Duplicate
space bar - To have 4 different views.
Scroll MMB = Zoom
F8 - To toggle between object mood and component mood and to select more features on the object. To change back to object mood, press F8 again.
View > Camera Attribute Editor > Far Clip Plane(add more zeros)
(This is when you want to zoom out an doesn't want the object to suddenly disappear.)
To print screen on Mac - Command + 3 and then Desktop
Shapes :
Create >Polygon Primitives(Unchecked "Interactive Creation")
To view/focus on the selected object, press F.
Q - select
W - move
E - rotate
R - scale
